| Reviewed by | P.Dial | Asterix and Obelix, both great and funny comic characters, have been the main heroes in numerous video games. One of the best is Asterix & Obelix for the SNES, a fantastic side scrolling platform game that features these two superhuman Gauls. The game was developed in 1995 by the French Infogrames. |

STORY / GAMEPLAY The year is 50 BC and the world is dominated by the great Roman Empire. There are several divine and precious artifacts from all over Europe, scattered all around its territories and you main goal is to find and retrieve them. You choose either the "shorty" (but smart and strong) Asterix or the huge (and always hungry) Obelix, smashing and kicking each and every enemy on your path. Your quest starts in a small Gaul village and the Roman soldiers do their best to block your way and prevent you from finding the artifacts. So, kick, punch, destroy and send the "cute" and "poor" Roman guys off their armors with a powerful upper-cut! Sounds familiar huh? Yes it does!! In this game you'll feel like you're actually watching a pure Asterix & Obelix cartoon episode, so get ready to laugh your pants out! GRAPHICS / SOUND This SNES game is absolutely gorgeous, with cartoonish visuals based on a large number of colors, great animation and -of course- funny characters! The game's sound is fantastic since the music and the sound effects are seemingly taken from some actual Asterix and Obelix cartoon movies. All you have to do is to grab your SNES joypad, get ready to punch and kick every soldier and...laugh to tears! | |
